Between times.

                                                  oil on board. 26x20cm.

Between working out ideas for other things I return again to trying to deal with painting myself. Each time it is different, so much changes over the days weeks or months and years that it can take. Lucien Freud is reported to have said that working over a long time on a portrait is like trying to hit a moving target.

  1. This portrait is so expressive and- for a lack of a better word -tender.

It says what it has to say without emulating a particular style or being in a particular era.

  2. Thankyou Sharon, There are some people whose work I have come to find very touching. I like to follow my own plough but I love to see your work and there is another, Ilaria del Turco whose paintings make me want to see them for real. Manet too. A good blog is a life saver at times and like literature, shows one that one is not alone. Thank you.
